Regulation
The Financial Services Authority is responsible for regulating the financial services industry in the UK. However, they currently do not regulate sales of pure protection policies (often known as term assurance), which is all that LifeSearch advise on and sell. Thus LifeSearch is not regulated by the Financial Services Authority.
Should you require a product that is regulated by the FSA, such as a whole of life insurance plan, then we may pass you on to our colleagues in LifeSearch Financial who are a separate part of our company and are regulated. This is because advising and selling such policies are regulated under the Financial Services and Markets Act.
LifeSearch Financial are an appointed representative of Baigrie Davies, who are themselves authorised and regulated by the FSA in the conduct of regulated business. This means that any policies taken up through LifeSearch Financial are covered under the rules and regulations of the Financial Services Authority. Baigrie Davies has been authorised since 1987, and LifeSearch, LifeSearch Financial and Baigrie Davies all have the same shareholders.
